American Heart Association Partners with AAA Ambulance Service

Hattiesburg, MS - April 28, 2003 - The American Heart Association (AHA) recently announced the formal accreditation of AAA Ambulance Service as an AHA Training Center. The accreditation authorizes AAA to provide all of AHA’s Emergency Cardiovascular Care Training Programs throughout its growing service area. These programs are designed to reduce disability and death from cardiac and respiratory emergencies and stroke by improving the chain of survival in every community. According to Karen Bell, Regional Manager for the American Heart Association, “AAA’s provision of these programs will raise education and public awareness throughout the Pine Belt Area. As a result, more lives will be saved.” Bell listed programs such as CPR, Heartsaver First Aid, Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support as programs that will be offered through AAA. Wade Spruill, CEO of AAA Ambulance Service, stated, “This agreement with the American Heart Association places AAA in an excellent position to greatly extend its community service. We will manage these programs through our new Department of Education. Our Education Coordinator, Ms. Lynn Henley, will schedule courses, house and maintain instructor records, and be responsible for issuance of course completion cards. We are very proud to be able to offer this service throughout Southeast Mississippi.” The American Heart Association is the largest non-profit voluntary health organization fighting heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular diseases. These diseases annually kill about 960,000 Americans.
