AAA offers both air and ground services. AAA Ambulance Service has managed the operation of the R7 helicopter since the district’s 1971 foundation. This partnership continues today as the oldest uninterrupted helicopter rescue operation in the United States.

Nine counties in the southern Mississippi support the availability of helicopter services through state law that authorizes the organization and public funding of this valuable service. The SEMAAD member counties are: Covington, Forrest, Greene, Jeff Davis, Marion, Pearl River, Perry, Stone, and Walthall. The organization is the only one of its type and is considered to be a leader in the development of air ambulance services in the nation.
